Tastefully Simple Review (2026): Is It Still an MLM? The Ambassador Model Explained

If you went to a Tastefully Simple party in the 2000s, you probably remember the beer bread. The company is still here. But in January 2025, it quietly stopped being a classic MLM for new sellers.
So is Tastefully Simple worth joining in 2026? This Tastefully Simple review covers what changed, what it costs, how the new Ambassador plan pays, and what the company still hasn't published.
Quick answer: Tastefully Simple is a Minnesota food company founded in 1995 by Jill Blashack Strahan. Since January 2025, new sellers are "TS Ambassadors" who earn up to 40% on their own sales and no longer build teams. It costs $5.99 a month.
I've been inside 8 network marketing companies since 2004, and I always start with the company's own words. For this review I read tastefullysimple.com, its 2026 "Three Ways to Earn" sheet, its Ambassador enrollment brochure, its income page, industry coverage of the change, its BBB profile, federal court records and its public social media. You can browse every company I've reviewed on one page.
Here's what I found.
Is Tastefully Simple Still in Business?
Yes. About 50 people a month search "tastefully simple going out of business," so let's settle it. In October 2026, the site was selling products with a "1998-2026" copyright, and its earnings sheet and Ambassador brochure were both dated 2026.
What went away was the old consultant and team-building model. The company didn't. You can compare its status with other companies in the full MLM company directory.

Who's Behind Tastefully Simple?
Jill Blashack Strahan founded the company in 1995 and still runs it as Founder and CEO. Per Wikipedia, she first ran it out of a small shed, and it grew into a company that reported $110 million in sales in 2011 and $82 million in 2013. In July 2014 it laid off about a quarter of its workforce.
The company's About page says it has donated "more than $7 million to worthwhile causes and organizations" since 1995.
Is Tastefully Simple Still an MLM?
This is the big question, and the answer changed in 2025.
In December 2024, Direct Selling News reported that Tastefully Simple was "shifting from its original multi-level marketing structure" to a new model launching in January 2025. Here's what that means, per the same report:
- Sellers are now called TS Ambassadors.
- New Ambassadors "will no longer sponsor or build teams." They sell through a shopping link, on social media or at in-person events.
- Ambassadors can share a referral link so others can sign up.
- A small group of heritage leaders, called Diamond and Gold Ambassadors, "may still build teams of first-line" Ambassadors.
There's still a referral layer. The 2026 earnings sheet pays referral cash on a new Ambassador's first 30 days and a 2% referral commission on your "community sales" when you sell $1,000 or more yourself in the month.
My read: for anyone joining now, this works mostly like an affiliate program with a small referral bonus, not a deep MLM. That's rare in this industry, and the founder said as much: "I don't know of any other companies taking this approach."
What It Costs to Become a TS Ambassador
From the company's Ambassador page:
- $5.99 a month, or $65.89 a year (the company says one month free).
- No monthly sales minimum.
- Paid twice a month based on your sales.
- A starter perk: $10 off any $60+ purchase in your first 30 days.
That's one of the lowest-cost, lowest-pressure setups I've seen. No kit you have to buy, and no quota to stay in.
How TS Ambassadors Get Paid
From the "Three Ways to Earn" sheet dated January 2026:
| Monthly sales | You earn |
|---|---|
| $50 | 10% of sales |
| $250 | $50 cash |
| $500 | $125 cash |
| $750 | $175 cash |
| $1,000 | 25% of every dollar sold |
| $3,000 | 30% |
| $5,000 | 35% |
| $7,000+ | 40% |
On top of that:
- Fast Start: up to $200 in free product in your first 10 weeks.
- Referral cash: $10 to $250, based on a new Ambassador's sales in their first 30 days.
- Referral commission: 2% of your community's sales when you sell $1,000+ yourself that month.
- Referral bonus: $250 to $1,500 for four or more new enrollments in a six-month window.
The sheet also says an "experience" (a party, in person or online) averaged $604 in sales in 2025. That's the company's figure for a party, not an earnings figure.
Is There a Tastefully Simple Income Disclosure?
Not for the new plan yet. The company's income page says the new compensation plan launched January 1, 2025, and that the average earnings of active TS Ambassadors under it "will be available in 2026." When I checked on October 14, 2026, it hadn't been posted.
So I can't tell you what a typical Ambassador makes. I can do the math from the grid: $500 in monthly sales pays $125, before your $5.99 fee and any samples you buy. Whether you'll sell $500 a month is the part nobody can promise you.
What Tastefully Simple Sells
The products are quick mixes for home cooking and entertaining. Prices from the company's site in October 2026:
| Product | Size | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Bountiful Beer Bread Mix | single pack | $8.99 |
| Onion Onion Seasoning | 4 oz | $10.99 |
| Garlic Garlic Seasoning | $10.99 | |
| Howlin' Horseradish Dip Mix | 3.9 oz | $10.99 |
| Chicken Tortilla Soup Mix | serves 8 | $9.99 |
The company says "100% of our food is made in the USA," and that its TS EatWell products are "clean label and are made with no artificial colors or flavors." Those are the company's words.
Is There a Tastefully Simple Lawsuit?
On October 14, 2026, I searched federal dockets on CourtListener for "Tastefully Simple" in the case name. It returned 5 results:
- Three cases brought by Tastefully Simple, against Mars, Princess House and Two Sisters Gourmet.
- Two cases brought against it, Dalton v. Tastefully Simple and Gleich v. Tastefully Simple. Dalton was filed in federal court in Minnesota on May 16, 2025.
Gleich was a 2005 breach-of-contract case in federal court in Illinois that closed in 2007. Dalton's public docket page doesn't say what it's about, so I won't guess. I found no FTC action. This search doesn't cover state courts.
Tastefully Simple's BBB Rating
When I checked, Tastefully Simple had an A+ rating from the BBB and had been accredited since December 1, 2004. That's a strong, long-running record.
What Tastefully Simple's Social Media Shows Right Now
These numbers were read from each public profile on October 14, 2026.

The Good: What Tastefully Simple Gets Right
- A real exit from the recruiting model. New Ambassadors earn on what they sell, not on a downline.
- Cheap and low pressure. $5.99 a month with no sales minimum and no kit to buy.
- Clear pay. The whole grid fits on one page.
- A 30-year company with an A+ BBB rating and accreditation since 2004.
- Products people already like, starting under $10.
The Concerns: What You Need to Know
- No earnings data yet. The new plan's averages were promised "in 2026" and weren't posted when I checked.
- Small dollars at low volume. 10% on $50 is $5.
- Heritage leaders still build teams, so the model isn't fully single-level.
- Food is a repeat purchase but a small ticket. You need a lot of orders to reach the higher tiers.
Product Alternatives
Tastefully Simple's mixes are convenient, and some are good value. Here's how a few compare with widely sold options. I'm not saying they taste the same. I'm showing you what else is out there.
| What you want | Tastefully Simple product and price | Alternative | Why consider it |
|---|---|---|---|
| A garlic seasoning blend | Garlic Garlic Seasoning, $10.99 | McCormick Signature Garlic & Herb Seasoning | $5.22; a grocery-store staple |
| A party dip mix | Howlin' Horseradish Dip Mix, $10.99 (3.9 oz) | Dan-O's Dips Variety Pack, 4 pack | $10.48; four dip flavors for about the same price |
| Beer bread | Bountiful Beer Bread Mix, $8.99 | Southern Living Gourmet Beer Bread Mix | $9.99; honestly, Tastefully Simple's own mix is cheaper here |
The Amazon prices are the buy-box prices on each listing when I checked on October 14, 2026, and all three were in stock. Prices change, so check before you buy.
Tastefully Simple vs Other Kitchen and Party-Plan Companies
If you're looking at kitchen companies, compare Tastefully Simple with Pampered Chef and Tupperware. For other party-plan companies, read my reviews of Scout & Cellar and Scentsy. Compare what it costs to start, whether you have to recruit, and what each company publishes about earnings.
My Verdict: Is Tastefully Simple Worth It in 2026?
One More Thing...
Tastefully Simple took away the downline. Now the only thing that pays is getting your link in front of people who want to buy.
That's a marketing skill. When you learn how to get the right people to find you and want what you share, you stop relying on the same few friends to host a party. And that works with any product.
That's what The Sponsoring System teaches. It's a free email series where I share the digital marketing that actually works for networkers. If you want it, start the free series here.
