LifeVantage Review (2026): Protandim, the Sales Slide, and the Consultant Business

LifeVantage is one of the few MLMs you can check like any other public company. It files reports with the SEC, and those reports tell a story most reviews skip: sales are falling, the consultant count is shrinking, and a new CEO took over in August 2026.

So is LifeVantage worth joining in 2026? This LifeVantage review covers Protandim, the numbers, the FDA letter, what it costs to join, what the company's own income disclosure says, and the lawsuits.

Quick answer: LifeVantage is a Lehi, Utah supplement company best known for Protandim. Its revenue fell 20.1% to $182.6 million in the year to June 2026. You can join with a $50 Start Kit, and per its 2025 income disclosure, 67.68% of U.S. consultants earned nothing.

I've been inside 8 network marketing companies since 2004, and I always start with the company's own words. For this review I read lifevantage.com, its 2026 annual report and latest SEC filings, its results release, its 2025 income disclosure, its compensation plan, the FDA's 2017 warning letter, federal court records, its BBB profile and its public social media. You can browse every company I've reviewed on one page.

Here's what I found.

Is LifeVantage Still in Business?

Yes. Its site carries a 2026 copyright, it filed its annual report in August 2026, and it was promoting a 2026 global convention. In October 2026 it also told the SEC it is switching its fiscal year to end on December 31.

You can compare its status with other companies in the full MLM company directory.

Who's Behind LifeVantage?

Terrence Moorehead became President and CEO effective August 5, 2026. Per the company's leadership page, he was previously CEO of Nature's Sunshine Products from 2018 through 2025.

The company's annual report gives the history. It sold a single product, Protandim, through traditional retail stores until fiscal 2009, and announced in October 2008 that it was moving to direct sales. In October 2025 it bought the operating assets of LoveBiome, a gut health brand, and launched its P84 system.

The Numbers: A Shrinking Company

This is the part most reviews skip. From the company's fiscal 2026 results (the year ended June 30, 2026):

  • Revenue: $182.6 million, down 20.1% from $228.5 million. Americas revenue fell 23.2%.
  • Why: the company said the drop was "primarily due to declines in sales of the MindBody GLP-1 System," along with fewer orders from its active accounts and smaller average orders, and it took an allowance for obsolete MindBody inventory.
  • Commissions: $77.1 million, or 42.2% of revenue.
  • Net income: $5.1 million, down from $9.8 million.
  • Consultants: about 43,000 active, down from 51,000 a year earlier.
  • Customers: about 61,000 active, down from 81,000.

It's still profitable. But fewer consultants and fewer customers is the trend you should know about before you join.

What LifeVantage Sells

Prices from the company's site in October 2026, one-time order (subscribe and save is 10% less):

ProductContentsPrice
Protandim Nrf2 Synergizer30 caplets$66.99
TrueScience Liquid Collagen30 bottles, 1.7 fl oz each$174.99
MindBody GLP-1 System60 capsules plus a 30-day supply$159.99
LoveBiome P8430-day supply$212.49

Protandim's label lists five extracts: milk thistle, bacopa, ashwagandha, green tea and turmeric. The company says it is "the only supplement shown to reduce oxidative stress by 40% in just 30 days." That's the company's claim, and its own page adds that the statements "have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration." Whether any supplement is right for you is a question for your doctor.

The FDA Warning Letter

On April 17, 2017, the FDA sent LifeVantage a warning letter about Protandim Nrf2 Synergizer. The letter said that claims on the company's websites "establish that your Protandim NRF2 Synergizer product is a drug" because they presented it for preventing or treating disease. Examples it quoted included "Cancer prevention." It also said the product was misbranded.

LifeVantage pushed back. Its 2018 annual report said the letter "contained factual inaccuracies," that it responded promptly, and that "the FDA subsequently concluded that the issues set forth in the warning letter have been fully resolved."

A warning letter isn't a court ruling or a fine. But it's a useful reminder: when someone tells you a supplement prevents a disease, that's the kind of claim regulators act on.

Is LifeVantage an MLM?

Yes. From the company's Evolve plan page:

  • You earn "the difference between the price you pay as a Consultant and the price" your customers pay.
  • Once you enroll consultants, "Commissions range from 3-10% on sales made by your team."
  • As your rank grows, you earn level commissions "down through 9 possible Levels."
  • Top ranks share in a Leadership Pool based on global volume.

Is it a pyramid scheme? I don't use that label for a company selling real products to real customers, and LifeVantage reports about 61,000 active customers. But a 2018 lawsuit did allege it, which I cover below.

What It Costs to Join LifeVantage

From the company's 2025 income disclosure and its compensation plan:

  • Start Kit: $50. You can also start with a larger product pack.
  • Annual renewal: $50.
  • Staying Active: 150 in sales volume a month. The plan says this "can be fulfilled solely through Customer orders."
  • Other likely costs the disclosure lists: event registration up to $200 per person (before travel), sales aids at $20 to $50, and shipping.

What LifeVantage's Income Disclosure Shows

The company's income disclosure covers 2025 and was revised in February 2026. It reports gross commissions, before expenses.

  • 55,685 U.S. consultants could earn commissions.
  • 32.32% earned commissions. 67.68% did not.
  • Among those who earned, the median was $192 for the year, and the average for a typical earning consultant was $639.
  • Consultant 1, the biggest paid group at 45.68%, averaged $25 a month in commissions, with a median of $19.
  • Presidential Consultant, the top rank at 0.03% in the company's table, averaged $127,068 a month.

That spread is typical for this industry. A few people at the top earn a lot. Most people who earn anything make a few hundred dollars a year, and two out of three earned nothing.

Is There a LifeVantage Lawsuit?

Yes, two worth knowing about. Both are over.

  • Shareholder class action (2016). Per the company's 2018 annual report, the court dismissed the case with prejudice in September 2017, and the plaintiffs agreed not to appeal "without payment of any consideration by or on behalf of defendants."
  • Pyramid scheme class action (2018). Smith v. LifeVantage alleged that the company and three of its executives "operated a pyramid scheme" under federal racketeering law and Connecticut's unfair trade practices law. Per the company's 2023 annual report, the court denied class certification on April 19, 2022, and "on December 15, 2022, the case was dismissed with prejudice." The federal docket shows the case terminated that day.

Neither filing gives a reason for the 2022 dismissal or any terms, so I won't call it a settlement or a win. No court ruled that LifeVantage was a pyramid scheme. And as of June 30, 2026, the company's annual report said it had no probable loss contingencies requiring disclosure.

LifeVantage's BBB Rating

When I checked, LifeVantage had a B- rating from the BBB and was not accredited. The reason given: "Failure to respond to 4 complaint(s) filed against business."

What LifeVantage's Social Media Shows Right Now

The Good: What LifeVantage Gets Right

  • Transparency you rarely get. As a public company, it reports revenue, commissions and consultant counts to the SEC.
  • A cheap start. $50 for a Start Kit.
  • Customer orders count toward your monthly requirement.
  • A published income disclosure with averages and medians by rank.
  • Still profitable, even after a hard year.

The Concerns: What You Need to Know

  • Most consultants earned nothing. 67.68% in 2025.
  • A shrinking field. Active consultants fell from 51,000 to 43,000 in a year, and revenue fell 20.1%.
  • The GLP-1 product didn't hold. The company tied its decline mainly to MindBody GLP-1 sales and fewer, smaller orders, and wrote down inventory.
  • Leadership change. A new CEO took over in August 2026.
  • A health-claim history. The 2017 FDA warning letter was about disease claims for Protandim.
  • A B- at the BBB for unanswered complaints.

Product Alternatives

Protandim is a blend, so nothing on a shelf is the same formula. If you want one of its ingredients on its own, or a cheaper way to get collagen or a probiotic, here are widely sold options. I'm not saying they're equal. I'm showing you what else is out there.

An ashwagandha supplementProtandim Nrf2, $66.99 (ashwagandha is another of its extracts)Nutricost Ashwagandha 600mg, 120 capsules$14.95; a single-ingredient option
CollagenTrueScience Liquid Collagen, $174.99 for 30 bottlesVital Proteins Collagen Peptides, Unflavored, 9.33 oz$18.65; a powder you mix in, not a liquid shot

The Amazon prices are the buy-box prices on each listing when I checked on October 14, 2026, and all four were in stock. Prices change, so check before you buy. I'm not listing an alternative to the MindBody GLP-1 System. Anything aimed at GLP-1 or weight loss is a conversation for your doctor.

LifeVantage vs Other Supplement MLMs

If you're comparing supplement companies, read my reviews of Kyani and Shaklee. Nu Skin is another Utah company that also sells skincare, and Plexus is built around gut health like P84. Compare what it costs to start, what you need to order each month, and what each income disclosure shows.

My Verdict: Is LifeVantage Worth It in 2026?

One More Thing...

When a company's field is shrinking, the consultants who keep growing are the ones who don't depend on the company's momentum. They bring their own customers.

That's a marketing skill. When you learn how to get the right people to find you and trust you, you're not stuck waiting for the next product launch to save your month. And that works with any company.

That's what The Sponsoring System teaches. It's a free email series where I share the digital marketing that actually works for networkers. If you want it, start the free series here.
