SendOutCards Review (2026): Promptings, the $99 Consultant Fee and the Pay Plan

You've probably gotten one of these: a real printed greeting card in the mail, with a photo on the front, from someone who sells insurance or real estate. There's a good chance it went out through SendOutCards.
So is SendOutCards an MLM, and is it worth joining in 2026? This SendOutCards review covers what the company sells now (it goes by Promptings these days), what the cards really cost, how its Gratitude Consultants get paid under the plan it rewrote in September 2026, and what its own income disclosure shows.
Quick answer: SendOutCards is a Utah card-and-gift sending service that now sells under the Promptings name. Anyone can buy a membership to send cards. Gratitude Consultants pay $14 a month or $99 a year and earn commissions on a multi-level plan. The company's own 2023 income disclosure shows 61.15% of affiliates averaged $0.00 a month.
I've been inside 8 network marketing companies since 2004, and I always start with the company's own words. For this review I read the SendOutCards and Promptings sites, the pricing page, the compensation plan updated September 22, 2026, the 2022 and 2023 income disclosure statements, the Consultant Agreement, the FTC's October 2021 notice list and BBB's profile of the company. You can browse every company I've reviewed on one page.
Here's what I found.
Is SendOutCards Still in Business?
Yes. In October 2026, sendoutcards.com opened a live app calling itself "THE PREMIER GRATITUDE SHARING PLATFORM," with a pricing page, card catalog and gifts. The newer name is everywhere: promptings.com describes "The Promptings Platform powered by SendOutCards," and the sign-in page says your account "works across Promptings, SendOutCards, and Promptings Academy."
The business opportunity is open too. The pricing page sells a "Promptings Gratitude Consultant" role for $99 a year and lists the United States first among the countries where it's available. You can compare SendOutCards with other companies in the full MLM company directory.
What Is SendOutCards?

| Seller role | Promptings Gratitude Consultant, $14 a month or $99 a year |
| Pay plan | Updated September 22, 2026; up to 7 levels of Ongoing Commissions |

Who's Behind SendOutCards?
Promptings' leadership page says "Kody & Jodi Bateman founded SendOutCards as a mechanism to help people act on their promptings and evolved it into the Promptings Gratitude Movement you see today." Kody Bateman is listed as Chief Visionary Officer, and Dave Smith as Senior Officer of Operations. The same page calls SendOutCards "the predecessor to Promptings."
You'll see different founding years online. I'm only going with what I could source: BBB's profile of SendOutCards, LLC lists the business as started June 1, 2004 and incorporated June 18, 2003, at 1825 W Research Way in Salt Lake City. The current Consultant Agreement gives a different mailing address, in South Jordan, Utah.
That agreement also shows SendOutCards is one brand among several. Consultants can sell "SendOutCards, Stream Marketing, Stream VA, PromptingU, Blue 42 For Life, and Bella Cadeaux," in the agreement's words.
What SendOutCards Sells
The core product is a card you design in the app and SendOutCards prints and mails for you, or sends digitally. Around that sit memberships, card packs, setup help and training events. These are the prices on its pricing page in October 2026:
| Product | Price |
|---|---|
| Casual membership (5 cards a month) | $27/month subscription, or $30 one-time |
| Advanced membership (15 cards a month) | $47/month subscription, or $60 one-time |
| Pro membership (50 cards a month) | $112/month subscription, or $145 one-time |
| Full Impact Package (50 card credits, setup support) | $349 |
| Gratitude Pack 100 (100 printed cards, US stamps included) | $290 |
| Gratitude Pack 700 (700 printed cards, US stamps included) | $1,575 |
| Gratitude Expert packages (setup help) | $137 to $337 |
| Promptings Seminar | $197 |
| Promptings to Prosperity 2027 (3-day event) | $1,997 |
By my math, a Gratitude Pack works out to about $2.90 a card at the 100 size and $2.25 a card at the 700 size, with postage included. The full product list in the compensation plan runs from a $12 ACT subscription to a $9,000 10,000 Card Pack.
There's also a free option: the site lets you "Send a Free Card" to try it.
Is SendOutCards an MLM?
Yes. Its own policies describe it plainly: "Promptings is a direct sales company that markets products and services through independent Consultants." The compensation plan defines your downline as everyone "Directly sponsored by you," "Sponsored by Consultants in your organization" and "Referred by customers within your organization," and pays Ongoing Commissions on up to 7 levels. That's a multi-level structure.
Is it a pyramid scheme? By its own description, it's a direct sales company selling a real service, and plenty of people buy memberships just to send cards. I don't hand out that label without a ruling. The questions that matter are where the commissions come from and how much people actually earn, both covered below.
What It Costs to Become a Gratitude Consultant
The plan says you can join "for either: A monthly fee of $14, or An annual fee of $99." The opportunity page pitches the annual option as "For a Limited Time Only" at "Just $99 for the Year!" You stay Active, and eligible for commissions, as long as that fee is current.
The fee is only part of it. Level 1 Ongoing Commissions go to any Active Consultant, but deeper levels need volume: the full plan says Levels 1 to 5 unlock with "at least 47 QV from you and your personally sponsored customers" in the month, while the Quick Compensation Guide lists 45 QV for Levels 2 to 5. The guide also ties your own ongoing earnings to a membership "($47 Advanced or above)." Its fast route to the first rank is to be "on a membership and purchasing a Full Impact Package and personally help two others do the same in your first 60 days." That package is $349.
Two protections are worth knowing:
- A buyback. The Consultant Agreement says that when you cancel, eligible unused products and sales aids returned within a year are reimbursed at "90 percent of the net cost of the original purchase price(s), less shipping charges," minus commissions paid on them.
- A cooling-off period. Retail customers can cancel within three business days for a full refund, and Montana residents get 15 days on the Consultant Agreement.
How Gratitude Consultants Get Paid
The plan, "Updated: September 22, 2026," lists five types of commission:
- Sponsor Commissions, paid daily on what your customers and personally sponsored Consultants buy. The plan says they're usually "A set dollar amount (most common)," or 10 to 15% of the sale amount.
- Ongoing Commissions on monthly subscription renewals, up to 7 levels deep. Level 6 needs Platinum and Level 7 needs Diamond.
- Override Commissions on first-month subscriptions and packages in your downline, at the Gratitude Consultant, Silver, Gold or Platinum level.
- Team Commissions on your team's card, gift and legacy subscription volume: 10% of Level 2 at Silver, 12% of Levels 2 and 3 at Gold, and 13% of Levels 2 to 4 at Platinum or higher.
- Team Leadership Commissions for Diamond (4% and 2%) and Eagle (6% and 3%) on deeper leadership groups.
The ranks run Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Eagle, at 1,500, 4,500, 13,500, 40,500 and 121,500 QV a month. One Silver path is simply having "at least 10 active Membership Subscriptions on your Level 1."
The plan's product table shows the actual dollars. A few examples:
| Sale | Retail | Sponsor Commission | Ongoing Commission per level |
|---|---|---|---|
| Advanced membership, first month | $47 | $12 | |
| Advanced membership, each renewal | $47 | $3 | |
| Pro membership, each renewal | $112 | $8 | |
| Full Impact Package | $349 | $100 | |
| Promptings to Prosperity event | $1,995 | $700 |
That last row stood out to me. The plan pays a $700 Sponsor Commission on a training event ticket listed at $1,995 in its commission table ($1,997 on the pricing page), and attending Promptings to Prosperity is one way to meet a Platinum requirement. When training events pay the person who sells you the ticket, ask whether the event is right for you before you buy one.
What SendOutCards Consultants Actually Earn
SendOutCards publishes an income disclosure. The newest one I found is for 2023, and it covers "all Promptings Affiliates," including people who weren't active. The figures are average monthly income, before expenses.
| 2023 average monthly income | % of affiliates |
|---|---|
| $0.00 | 61.15% |
| $0.01 to $10.00 | 10.23% |
| $10.01 to $20.00 | 6.36% |
| $20.01 to $50.00 | 8.43% |
| $50.01 to $100.00 | 5.30% |
| $100.01 to $200.00 | 3.93% |
| $200.01 to $500.00 | 2.95% |
| $500.01 to $1,000.00 | 0.76% |
| $1,000.01 to $2,500.00 | 0.62% |
| $2,500.01 to $5,000.00 | 0.14% |
| $5,000.01 to $10,000.00 | 0.10% |
| $10,000.01 to $75,000.00 | 0.04% |
By my math, 86.17% of affiliates averaged $50 a month or less, and about 1.66% averaged more than $500 a month. The 2022 statement looks almost the same, with 62.38% at $0.00.
The statement says it plainly: "Promptings makes no guarantee of financial success." Keep one more thing in mind. These numbers come from the plan before the September 2026 rewrite, and the company's recognition page shows the old "Star" ranks being moved over to the new ones. Nobody has published results for the new plan yet. I don't make income claims, and you shouldn't make any based on the top rows.
The FTC Notice, BBB and Lawsuits
In October 2021, the FTC sent Notices of Penalty Offenses about money-making opportunities and endorsements to a long list of companies. The FTC's published list, updated October 25, 2021, includes "SendOutCards."
The FTC's own list says: "The fact that a company is on this list is NOT an indication that it has done anything wrong." The notice puts companies on record about what the law requires. It isn't a finding against them.
BBB gives SendOutCards, LLC an A+ rating. The company is not BBB accredited, and BBB files it under "Greeting Card Manufacturers" and "Multi-Level Sales."
People also search for "is SendOutCards a scam." I couldn't run a federal court docket search for this review (the search service was rate-limited), so I'm making no claim either way about lawsuits.
What SendOutCards' Social Media Shows Right Now
These are the accounts linked from the company's own sites, read on October 15, 2026.
| Platform | Handle | Followers | Posts |
|---|---|---|---|
| @sendoutcards_official | 3,527 | 1,762 posts | |
| @promptingscompany | 514 | 1,056 posts | |
| YouTube | @Promptings | 1.42K subscribers | 32 videos |
| SendOutCards and Promptings pages (linked) | not read |
For a company BBB lists as started in 2004, that's a small official footprint. Several of the top Google results for "sendoutcards review" are consultants' own Facebook posts.
The Good: What SendOutCards Gets Right
- A real, useful product. Printed cards mailed for you, with your photos and handwriting font, are something small businesses actually use.
- A low entry fee. $99 a year to become a Consultant is cheaper than most starter kits.
- A published pay plan and income disclosure. You can read exactly how commissions work and how most people do.
- A buyback and a free trial card. The 90% buyback and the free card lower the risk.
The Concerns: What You Need to Know
- Most affiliates earn nothing. 61.15% averaged $0.00 a month in 2023.
- The real cost is more than $99. Earning ongoing commissions points you toward a $47-a-month membership, and the fast track adds a $349 package.
- Paid events pay commissions. A $1,997 event ticket ($1,995 in the plan's table) pays the seller $700.
- The cards aren't cheap. About $2.25 to $2.90 per mailed card in the Gratitude Packs.
- A brand in transition. SendOutCards, Promptings and several other verticals share one plan, and the income disclosure predates the new plan.
- The FTC notice list. SendOutCards was on the 2021 list, with the FTC's own caveat.
Product Alternatives
If you like the idea of sending more cards but don't want a membership or a business, you can do it yourself.
| What you want | SendOutCards product and price | Alternative | Why consider it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Printed cards mailed with a stamp | Gratitude Pack 100, $290 (about $2.90 a card, stamps included) | Any box of cards you like, plus USPS Forever stamps at 82 cents each ($16.40 for a sheet of 20) | You pay 82 cents in postage plus whatever the card costs, and you write it by hand |
| Birthday reminders and follow-up | Casual membership, $27 a month | The calendar and contacts app already on your phone | Free, and a reminder is all you need to remember someone |
The stamp price is from the USPS store on October 15, 2026. What you give up is the convenience: SendOutCards prints, stamps and mails the card from your phone, and that's what the membership pays for.
SendOutCards vs Other Companies Selling a Service
SendOutCards sells a service rather than a product you can hold. If that's what draws you, read my LegalShield review, which covers legal plans sold through associates, and my ACN review, which covers phone and energy services. And if it's the cards themselves you love, my Stampin' Up! review covers the papercraft side. Compare what it costs to start, what you have to buy each month to earn, and what each income disclosure shows.
My Verdict: Is SendOutCards Worth It in 2026?
One More Thing...
SendOutCards is built on a good idea: people remember who reached out to them. The hard part has always been the same for every consultant, though. You can only send cards to people you already know.
When you learn to reach people online who are already looking for what you offer, you stop depending on your contact list. And that skill works with any company or product.
That's what The Sponsoring System teaches. It's a free email series where I share the digital marketing that actually works for networkers. If you want it, start the free series here.
