JAFRA Review (2026): Who Owns It Now, and How the Consultant Plan Pays

JAFRA has been selling beauty products through independent consultants since 1956. If someone just invited you to join, you may have run into the question a lot of people are searching: what happened to JAFRA?

This JAFRA review covers who owns it now, how the consultant plan actually pays, and what JAFRA itself says about how many people reach the top rewards.

Quick answer: JAFRA is still in business. Betterware de Mexico bought its Mexico and US operations in 2022, and the US site is selling and enrolling consultants in 2026. New consultants get 45% off for 3 months. But I couldn't find an income disclosure on the US site, and the company's own guide says only 0.28% of consultants earned its incentive trip in 2025.

I've been inside 8 network marketing companies since 2004, and I always start with the company's own words. For this review I read jafra.com, the October 2026 JAFRA Purple Guide, Betterware's investor filing and press release about the purchase, and JAFRA's public social media profiles. You can browse every company I've reviewed on one page.

Here's what I found.

What Happened to JAFRA Cosmetics?

Nothing bad. It changed owners. Betterware de Mexico closed its acquisition of JAFRA on April 7, 2022. Its 6-K filed April 28, 2022 describes the deal as "100% of JAFRA's operations in Mexico and the United States, along with JAFRA's trademark rights worldwide."

Betterware said JAFRA would run as a separate subsidiary with its own management team. Today the footer of jafra.com links "Investor Relations" straight to Betterware's investor site.

On October 14, 2026, jafra.com showed "© JAFRA COSMETICS INTERNATIONAL 2026," a live store and a "BECOME A JAFRA CONSULTANT - JOIN TODAY" banner. Its consultant guide is dated October 2026. You can compare its status with other companies in the full MLM company directory.

What Is JAFRA?

JAFRA sells skin care, fragrance, makeup, bath and body, and baby products through independent consultants.

The company says on its About page that it "does not test its products on animals" and that its newer fragrance cartons use at least 70% recycled paper.

Is JAFRA a Mexican Brand?

It started in the United States. JAFRA's About page says Jan Day "started a new kind of beauty company" in 1956, and the name comes from her first name and her husband Frank's.

Since 2022, its Mexico and US businesses have been owned by Betterware de Mexico, a Mexican company. So the honest answer is: an American-born brand, now under Mexican ownership, with a large following on both sides of the border.

What JAFRA Sells and What It Costs

Is JAFRA an MLM?

Yes. It pays on more than one level. JAFRA's own October 2026 Purple Guide describes three ways to earn: "Sell Products," "Build a Team" and "Grow Leaders."

You earn on your own sales through your discount. You earn on your team's sales once you become a Team Leader. And leaders above that earn on several generations of teams under them.

Is it a pyramid scheme? I don't use that label for a company selling real products to real customers, and JAFRA does. The Purple Guide also says new consultants qualify "based solely on their personal retail sales and not through any other activity."

How JAFRA Consultants Get Paid

Here's the plan as the Purple Guide lays it out:

• Your discount: a standard 40% off personal orders. New consultants get 45% for their first 3 months.
• The 50% level: VIPs, who reach $400 or more in personal retail sales for 3 months in a row, get 50%. The guide says that during 2025, "on average 11.9% of the Consultant Base were members of the VIP Club Program."
• Team Leader: sell $200 yourself, have 5 or more direct consultants each with $200 in sales (at least one of them new), and reach $1,200 in team sales. Team Leaders "Earn 8% or 12% commission on your sales & your team's sales."
• Leaders of leaders: titles from Director up to Royal Ambassador earn from 11% or 17% up to 16% or 22% on their central branch, plus commissions on up to 7 or more generations.
• Rewards: JAFRA Rewards points, incentive trips and a car program for top leaders.

To join, JAFRA says "your enrollment order consists of the JAFRA products and any optional New Consultant Packs selected at the time of enrollment." I didn't find a single required kit price on the US site.

Does JAFRA Publish an Income Disclosure?

Not that I could find. I searched jafra.com for "income disclosure" on October 14, 2026, and it returned "No results for income disclosure."

What the Purple Guide does say: "financial success is not guaranteed, and results may vary significantly among participants." It also reports that "During 2025, 0.28% of the Consultant Base earned the Incentive Trip offered by JAFRA."

That second number tells you something. Fewer than 3 in every 1,000 consultants earned the trip. I'd ask your sponsor for any earnings figures in writing before you join.

What JAFRA's Social Media Shows Right Now

The YouTube channel posted the day before I checked, and the TikTok bio reads "Beauty products & business opportunities."

The Good: What JAFRA Gets Right

• A 70-year brand. Founded in 1956, still selling and enrolling in 2026.
• A public parent company. Betterware reports to investors, and jafra.com links to them.
• A real discount to start. 45% off for your first 3 months, and up to 50% after.
• Qualification on retail sales. New consultants qualify on what they sell, not on who they sign up.
• Active brand accounts. 136K Instagram followers and a YouTube channel posting this week.

The Concerns: What You Need to Know

• No US income disclosure I could find. You can't check typical earnings on jafra.com.
• Few reach the top rewards. 0.28% of consultants earned the 2025 incentive trip.
• Monthly sales targets. The 50% discount and leader titles depend on hitting $200 to $400 or more in sales every month.
• Team commissions drive the bigger numbers. The higher percentages are paid on team sales, so the larger incomes depend on building and keeping a team.

JAFRA was built on women sharing beauty with women they knew, and that's still how most consultants sell. The hard part is the monthly target: $200, then $400, every month.

The sellers who hit those numbers consistently are usually the ones who've found customers beyond their own family and friends. That's a skill you can learn, and it works for any company.
